Didn’t something similar happen with Warwick’s about 5 years ago?

It’s a bit of a different situation; whereas Exeter’s CU was expelled for forcing members to sign a statement of religious belief, Warwick’s CU were expelled because of the treatment of a homosexual member who was basically told he was evil, if my memory serves me correctly. The Boar covered it and the article is available on their website somewhere, but their website is such a mess you’d be lucky to find it. The gist of it was that Warwick’s CU directly contravened the equal opportunities policies of the union and were therefore expelled (for 2 years, I think – after 2 years all Union policy expires unless it’s renewed)

Throughout my years at Warwick I think the CU was banned. That was 4 years and I don’t recall any policy or debate coming back round.

Gavin, I think that’s just that the CU never actually attempted to rejoin the Union rather than them not being allowed to.
