Church & Sundays – A popular misconception
Before I was a Christian I used to think the same as the majority of 'worldy' people; that Church was a building, or that Church is a set time each week on Sunday from 11:00 til 13:00 (I still refer to a Sunday service as church much to the annoyance of my brethren, and they do have a point, some habits take longer to die than others).
I'd like the set the record straight for anyone not in the know;
Church is not a building or restricted to 2 hours a week! Whenever two or more of Gods people (in this case I mean Christians, although it's important to remember that we are all gods people) meet and praise God, or move in the spirit, then you have 'Church'. It is not a place or time, not limited by physical boundaries or restricted to a day of the week.
Church is about treating others as you wish to be treated, loving others and showing the way to Gods love (I hasten to add that the latter makes the former much easier to achieve!!). This can take place in a Church building and on a Sunday between 11am and 1pm. The important thing is to make sure it's not restricted to these times and places and opprtunities are not lost by thinking so.
30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.'31The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'There is no commandment greater than these. Mark 12:30-31 NIV"
I consider myself very fortunate to have found God in a church that subscribes to this whole-heartedly, my church – Curious? why not contact me and come along? We'd be happy to welcome you.
*'worldly' a worldy view of the world as opposed to a christian or godly view.
