The death of Barry, the Death and Party Buses, and a meal with french nuns..

Today was an interesting day. Having decided to explore central Lima today, we were up with the lark (or whatever Peruvian birds are up early), and away for a run and some pressups on the beach – excellent. To our dismay, however, our resident bathroom cockroach, Barry, had been brutally murdered, presumably with some kind of rubber-soled footwear – RIP Barry.
Onwards and upwards, however, and off we set out to central Lima. We caught the bus, which in itself was an experience, quite cramped, but great fun and very cheap. Having wandered around and eaten a 2 course meal for approximately £1 each, we headed home once more.
The evening arrived and time for dinner – where should we go? I know, how about a Convent? – Yes that’s right, a convent. An order of french nuns offer a superb spread, with excellent service, complete with the option of Whiskey (which of course Dan indulged in), in central Lima.
We decided to catch the bus again, although this time our outward journey was split in two. The first, we affectionately named the ‘death bus’ owing to the reckless haphazard driving and boarding arrangements, the second, the ‘party bus’, owing to the driver’s desire to crank up the volume on hearing Culture Club’s ‘Karma Chameleon’. Awesome.
Full, and extremely happy, it’s off back to the hostel to wait for our taxi to the airport at 2am. Cuzco here we come!
