A busy week in the lead up to Copenhagen…

Sorry we are having technical difficulties so will hopefully will be showing you some supercool photos very soon!

We've had a crazy busy week, preparing for the big cycle off!

Last Saturday - Jesse went home to Bristol and visited the countdown to Copenhagen exhibition at the Arnolfini. Very inspiring! They have set up workshop spaces within the gallery to design the bikebloc - creating prototypes of new bikes that can be used in Copenhagen! We can get our bikes pimped!

Sunday - After a late night at Owen and Bunny's birthday party, we dragged ourselves (i mean jumped!) onto our bikes for TRAINING! Indeed we cycled to STRATFORD and back! A beautiful scenic hilly way there (18m - 1h 45mins) followed by hot chocolate and tea cakes in Hatherway's Tea Shop - much needed! I'll be honest and tell you we very nearly caught the train home but seeing how long it would take, the boys thought - why not cycle?! hmmm. A tad traumatic journey along the A roads to make a quicker journey back home. Dark, wet, windy. But we made it! (10m - 1hr 20mins) Physical and mental barriers overcome, nice hot bubble baths had to follow!

Thursday - Our much awaiting Climate Exchange fundraiser finally came into place. Owen and Jesse hosted a night of Promises Auction and entertainment - with Charlie in charge of the finances. Much thanks to societies, people and planeters and generous friends and attenders for all their bidding and singing. So much fun was had and we raised a whopping (nearly) £500 - way over anything we had hoped for! Lots of happy faces at successful bids - top prices went to Chris' double-page 'ego spread' in the Boar (£36!), Jesse's monthly delivery of fresh home-baked bread, and Diane's popular cookies and fudge... These donations are so important in order to fund our sustainable (but v. expensive) menthosd travel! We can add this to the £210 we recieved from the Student's Union. Yay!

Saturday - We organised a coach to take a whole 50 Warwick students to the Wave march in London - UKs biggest Climate Change march ever - with approx 50,000 people! It was lots and lots of fun! Warwick banners were flying, we were all blued up and spirits were high and we marched and danced along with a Samba band. Owen held the fort with the Quakers, Charlie led the Warwickers, as Jesse found her parent's band (they're awesome!) and her Godfather Mark who is cycling to Copenhagen today with her dad!! It was great to see so many people coming together and making thier voices heard about the urgency to take action on Climate Change.
