My Action Plan - UPDATES:
"I actively look for new things to do" (Activist)
In the week and a half following the workshop, I feel I have already made great progress in this respect. The first night, I attended a welcome buffet for a society, and by doing so, put myself into a situation I would not normally, and met many new people. I also attended a music/poetry event in Leamington organised by a friend of mine, again, an event I would not normally have attended if not going with close friends. However, this proved very enjoyable and again a good environment for speaking to new people. Just recently, I also attended a theatrical production in Stratford - an event to which I would not normally have made the effort to attend. I have found the more one puts oneself into such situations, the easier they become to deal with the next time around. I will continue to work on this point in the same way, as this seems to be successful.
"I am quite keen on sticking to fixed routines, following procedures and keeping to timetables" (Theorist)
Although action regarding this point rather suffered on account of a brief spell of freshers' flu, I have recently noticed the positive impact the increased level of organisation has had on my life. I have had to plan homework schedules in advance, to allow for more socialising in line with the first action point. This has worked out fine, and I am at present up-to-date with my homework and reading, as well as handing in my dissertation plan in spite of having to make many changes to my topic, which meant doing more research work than others. In terms of progressing my aims in this matter, I will strive to plan further in advance.
"I believe that careful, logical thinking is the key to success" (Theorist)
I have found that the prescribed 15-20 minutes a day "thinking time" has helped with my organisation and planning. However, I sometimes find it difficult to make time for this, and do not want to act on this point if it is to the detriment of other actions (e.g., sleep!). However, I feel in line with the more advanced planning aimed for above, this should fall into place.
