Any decent, easy to use online backup clients out there?

I am looking for an online backup solution for my technically disadvantaged (I am being really unfair ;)) father in law.

Ideally it would transparently upload any modified documents automatically without any user intervention. Anything which requires him getting involved in the process isn’t really acceptable.

Any ideas? Less than 10/mnth would be good.

The crucial question is how much data you'll be backing up. Assuming it's not vast amounts, then how about StrongSpace? 8 dollars (about a fiver, I guess) per month for 4GB of space.

To make it automatic you could use rSync for Windows or a back up client such as SyncBack which understands how to back up to a remote sFTP server. Set it to run once a day plus at startup or shutdown, and you'd be away.

But another question to ask is, why does it need to be off-site? Why not just buy a USB external hard drive at say 80GB for £60 and back up to that? Two copies on separate devices is good enough for most users unless the data is very valuable or there's an unusually high risk of physical damage to the environment.

Online Backup from SecuriData and True Communications Online Backup both offer free trials of their online backup soltions and come in well below £10 per month for up to 500Mb of online data storage.
