Keeping the Learning Alive: A Declaration

So I am a 31 year old Marketing Manager for a training consultancy call Righttrack. Learning and development is part of my world. Every day. But not in a studying kind of way that it is has become recently.

Make things happen

In November 2015 I was lucky enough to be offered an opportunity to study for a Post Graduate Award in Business Innovation Leadership at WMG. Having completed a BSc in Genetics at University of Manchester almost a decade ago, I leapt at the opportunity to get involved in formal learning again. But here’s the thing: studying, coursework, a serious full time job AND balancing ‘life’… doesn’t just happen through ‘enthusiasm’ alone, as I hoped it might.

Basically, I am super keen: to learn, to remember and to start implementing all of the rich, meaty stuff Ive been introduced to in the classroom, back into the business. But trying to make space in the day job to implement what I’ve learnt hasn’t really happened in the way I’d hoped. All my notes and the slides are on the kitchen table ready but that’s as far as I’ve got. There, I’ve admitted it!

So in the interests of i) doing myself proud, ii) giving a damn good return on the investment Righttrack had made in me, and iii) experimenting with ways to support learning retention and implementation, I hereby declare my intention of blogging my way through my course.
