What God has Done For Me

I'll start with a bit about my past -When I was little I always went to church with my family, twice every Sunday, and there I was taught about God from the bible. Both of my parents were christians, but I knew that that didn't make me a christian -I knew that being a christian is about a personal relationship between you and God, and I didn't have that. I knew that I had done things wrong (same as every other person has) and I knew through God's words, written down in the Bible, that because of the wrong things I'd done I was separated from God. I knew that Jesus, God's Son, had come into the world about 2000 years ago to provide a way to reconcile us (men and women) with God. Jesus (God) came to earth, lived a perfect life, and then chose to willingly die, on a cross, to take the punishment for my sins (since he had no sins of his own to be punished) and the sins of every person who ever lived. Our sins have to be punished because although God is an all loving God, he is also a just God. I knew I had the choice to ask God to forgive my sins through Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, or to take the punishment myself when I die. This second thought really scared me a lot. But, when I was 18 I took the very simple step of asking God to forgive me -I admitted that I had done things wrong, asked God to forgive me through Jesus' death, and then believed that God had done just that, just as he promises to for anyone who asks!
There are so many amazing things about being a christian (which I've explained in another entry), but the most important thing to me is that I know I am going to go to heaven now when I die, and I am not scared of dying anymore, because I'm not trusting in myself, but in Jesus.
