丰盛的晚餐

三个中国人室友凑在一块儿吃饭,现在大概是第三次吧。
Rebecca(来自深圳)做了美味的红烧肉,Ivy(来自香港)做了内容丰富的sauce,我(来自潮州)做什么好呢,想来想去,就做意大利面吧,反正有那么多料可以拌一起吃。懒人的做法,意大利面最容易做,开水里面滚二十分钟就搞定,惭愧啊。。。

我们三个人轮流各买了一次猪脚(嘿嘿,在我的带动下),今天Rebecca又做了红烧肉,做得比我好多了,互相学习着,大家的厨艺都日渐进步。

晚饭后隔了2个小时,我们又凑一起喝Rebecca煮的糖水,里面有木瓜、银耳、啤梨、苹果,糖水煮得刚到火候,带着粘性,很爽口。

大家一起在厨房做饭,吃饭,觉得好像一家人一样,很开心_.
东西也都很好吃。
吃得太饱,说话也语无伦次了,除了说好吃、开心,好像想不出其他语言,呵呵,怪不得长辈老说最好就吃七分饱。

还是跟中国人在一起开心。和鬼老说话不是话不投机就是听不懂他们在说什么。比如说James啦,跟我说话时不知怎的就特别shy,说话又小声又迅速,而且还扭捏。Biz很开朗,但是说话超快,又带有口音。。。Kuki是个nich girl,但是身上又有味道。。。

希望过得开心啦,不用一个人胡思乱想就行了,唉,唉

我的多用途猪大腿

超市里什么东西都贵,特别是蔬菜类。唯一让我眼前一亮的是猪大腿。一只切得圆圆实实,皮膏发亮的猪腿,俗称猪脚包,装在一个普通的白色泡沫盒里,上面压一层透明塑料薄膜,打了标价,1磅7,还好还好,这个价格还能接受。虽然我没做过猪脚,但一看它那发亮的皮和厚实的肉,我就想起了家里吃的猪脚卤肉,和餐馆里吃的红烧肉,特别是听说上次谁谁在谁谁宿舍里吃了香喷喷的红烧肉,我就不管三七二十一,抓起扔到trolley里了。

回到宿舍看到这么大块肉,我顿时傻了,只能收拾冰箱,给它让出一个超大地盘。问朋友,打电话问妈妈,终于有点头绪。

把肉从骨头上剔下来可不是容易的事。这猪看起来平时吃得好,运动量够足,肉长得可结实了。我花了近一个小时才用我的长柄水果刀把肉和骨头分离。想想三个月前我还没碰过一片生肉,就觉得自己真是天才厨师。理论告诉我,肉是拿来做红烧的,骨头得拿来煲汤。这便开始实践起来。

依妈妈吩咐,我把肉放到电饭煲里,加进1/5瓶那么多的生抽,一瓶盖白沙糖,好不容易从发芽了的姜切出几片完整还有点汁的姜片,一股脑放进去,调了煲粥那一挡,就放它在那慢慢煲了。这个电饭煲万里迢迢带来英国,一点都不浪费,解决了我的生计问题,还为我的厨师仕途垫下基础。待它煮的当儿,我还水煮了几个鸡蛋。等饭煲di di响预示着它工作完成时剥掉蛋壳,把鸡蛋浸到汁水里,就放着让他们酝酿几个钟头。

把锅里的肉和汁倒到长柄锅里,鸡蛋捞出来放到另外碗里,就可以吃了。而把长柄锅放到电磁炉上,开最小档的火,煲2个钟头,水都蒸发掉,肉入汁味,ready to serve~!

长长的骨头,带着点肉,加入清水,放锅里煮二十分钟,倒掉血水,重注入水,加上茶树菇,开2档火,煲3个小时。下点盐,good,美味的骨头汤出炉了~!

算了,还是别放照片,自己想象好了,呵呵*o*


sick of cooking

just escaped from the mess kitchen!
actually, the kitchen's kept so tidy and clean, but from my psychological point of view, it's a mess.
I forgot where i've put my stuff, and looked around aimlessly.
When i finally got ready for cooking, i felt no zeat to cook, and no appetite at all!
However, I used out all food and cook many dished enough for two days, but just had a small bite and put them all into the refrigerator!!
I'm sick of cooking! it make my hands unshaped and skins bad!
i'm sick of having to think what to eat for each meal everyday and being worried about seasoners!
I didn't cook happily and foods turned out to be tasteless…
I wanna go home! !!

merry christmas and happy new year!

tonight's christmas eve.
the uni. is as quiet as before.
going to church with friends tonight. it would be my first time to go to church in x'mas eve. When in china, i planned to go to church every x'mas eve, but because of burden in study, this dream never come true. we are in holiday now and have plenty of time. tonight's gonna be my first time of a traditional x'mas…..
nevertheless, i'm not as enthusiatic as before …...

i hope i can still have a lot of dreams in mind and be enthusiasitc in stead of being so calm and feelingless towards everything…..

冬至快乐=happy midwinter!

中午跟爸妈通电话,问妈妈怎么做猪脚包。现在家里是晚上,他们都吃过汤圆了。。。。

唉,有时候我问自己,来英国读书到底值不值,居然回这么想家,居然会偶尔百无聊赖地过日子,一天天,时间过得飞快。。刚算了下日常经费,到英国现在为止三个月,居然每天花了9磅(不包括住宿费),全部加起来一天花21磅,也就是rmb300多。。。而我很多时候居然不知不觉就晃了一天。。。每秒钟都在花钱啊。。。我该节省了。。。

今天做了两件很有意义的事,一是第一次在学校的post office寄包裹,虽然磕磕碰碰地完成整个过程,却也顺利,除了不小心把礼盒弄破了一个口;二是终于从hsbc拿到credit card,虽然是最低级的classic credit card,master card,还是很开心,以后上网购物订票什么的就方便多了,想当初刚来英国时多么渴望有张信用卡啊。信用卡的limit是250磅,估计是最低限额了,不过我估计自己一个月也刷不了那么多啦。

一天过得飞快,早上11点起床,煲猪脚,给家里打电话,出去寄包裹,上银行拿信用卡,回宿舍查网上银行记录,一下子就到下午五点了,而作业一个字还没写。。。。现在又要去don那里一起吃饭,估计又很晚才回来。唉,宝贵的一天又没了。。。


冬至到了..=midwinter's arrived

刚才朋友在qq上跟我说冬至快乐.

时间过得真快,冬至又到了.回想去年这个时候,我还在广外,整天忙碌.大四第一学期还有好几门功课,正值期末,还要写论文;同时完善简历,积极投递;准备公务员考试;那时好像还准备省外办的面试;还有留学的材料要准备.....回想当时真的很忙啊,但是忙得又充实,虽然期间觉得什么事都不顺利....不过最后还是收到了华威的录取通知书,现在还顺顺利利来到英国.想当初花了最多心血的事情却没收到成效,反而留学的事不怎么顾心,最终却来了....命运真是作弄人啊.....

在潮州,冬至肯定要吃汤圆的,而且是里面没陷的那种,很简单,但却很好吃,因为是爸爸亲手做的:) 软软嫩嫩的,汤又很香甜,完全是糯米的香味,不被其他料混淆. 掐指头一算,已经有五年没在家过冬至了,也是五年没吃爸爸亲手做的汤圆....在学校还有饭堂香喷喷的糯米饭可以吃,在英国,却是什么都没有了.只有圣诞将至,但我却听不到铃档声....圣诞的英国热闹非凡,但却不是我的节日....

今晚做梦能梦到汤圆吗?现实尝不到,希望在梦里能实现....那累计了五年的梦里的香味啊....

i've got one hour more

the summer time ends at 0 this morning and we've got one hour more today.

yesterday is Halloween, thus there is a Halloween Ball in the Student's Union. the ticket costs 5 pounds. i didn't get in co'z it's too expensive and few of Chinese friends did. People dressed in various costumns and were ready to show off. They enjoyed very much like movie stars when we took pictures of them. tow men even kissed. (see the pic)

we leave early at 11. say early because the ball ends at 2 am. i don't know how they count 2am coz it should be one hour more after the physical 2am. quite strange indeed.

Coventry one day tour

I went to Coventry today with some friends.

Lots of shops there and also a big solemn church.

After some shopping, we were loiterring around and then entered a pub.

It's the first time I've been in a pub outside Warwick Uni. and I was glad to see citizens around, young and old. I have tried some beer(or wine? it's hard for me to figure out which is which) on campus such as Reef, and Smirnoff Ice. This time, in the local pub, I tried Smirnoff with pepsi and Rechard(I forgot the name exactly, as it spells more or less like this) with lemonade. Smirnoff is kind of a vodka, and it's very strong as everybody knows. I drank 50ml smirnoff altogether but fortunataly not drunk though I just drink beer occasionally. It seems that i'm a potential drinker, haha….

Ok, entertainment must be ended for this week, coz i have a lot to read and a trial assignment to prepare.

the first day of lecture

Today is my first day of lecture, while some other schoolmates still enjoying their induction week. I took Applied Linguistics in the morning and Introduction to Elt in the afternoon. It is really a tiring day for i haven't been busy for such a long time.

It's a pity that I cannot have my own choice for optional course. Because I have no working experience before as a teacher, I have to take Introduction to ELT and Methodology in English Language Teaching compulsorily. Fortunately, the formar course shows great interest to me, and it was great fun joining a group of students sharing similar experence with me rather than in the general BSC&ELT group that most people have already had teaching experiences and are older than me. Nevertheless, it turns out to be enjoyable to get along with both groups of people.

There are assignments for both lectures I took today, and there are lists of bibliographies which means I'll have a lot to read and write. Hope I could get on well with it!

Tonight, I cooked porridge with mushroom, cucumber and drumstick for supper. It's really delicious. I enjoyed it very much.
