Week twenty–one

Writing about web page

Ah the possibility of diving back into the deep after a refresher :) rather than ears ringing with the chuckle of NZ Dive Master claiming "it's just like riding a bike" NOT!?

Self measurement

The data had delivered their verdict, and coffee lost.

Malcolm was a man of ideas really - he was fascinated by ideas. He was always thinking about the next one. He was always ready to say something provocative.

Digital tickets?

Live Nation says eventually it would like to get rid of paper tickets. John Probyn from Live Nation UK said: "Your ticket won't be a paper ticket, it'll be a wristband unique to you."

So the "arms race" against the fraudsters is ongoing... scams are ripping off fans... criminals do underhand things to make money...

<sigh> but I *heart* my collection of paper tickets... some of them even live in a frame...

my collection of wristbands... they just don't quite cut it...

Admit stumbling on this Higher Education Funding Council (HEFCE) funding project I'm intrigued...

All about wellbeing: Wellbeing and engagement have built on a number of other business and health concepts including organisational commitment, discretionary effort and staff engagement. For the purposes of this project, wellbeing and engagement are about creating the environment where staff are supported to perform to the best of their abilities. We believe that it is not, what some perceive to be a ‘fluffy add-on’ activity, it is actually a fundamental principle of good business, which benefits employees, institutions, and our students alike.

Improving performance through wellbeing and engagement is a two year national project funded by HEFCE to support institutions to enhance their performance through their people.

The project aims to:

  • Develop a higher education specific business case for employee wellbeing and engagement — showing what aspects make have the biggest impact on performance
  • Support institutions to enhance their practice by developing a bank of practical case studies and toolkits
  • Support learning and sharing across the sector by developing an employee wellbeing network, supported by regional meetings.

Exactly *how* are they going to evaluate the impact of interventions?

Will be following progress with special interest!
