Christmas gift ideas

Whispers.... minutes are ticking down for the year and we've reached December.... it must be nearly Christmas *boing* :) I can tell because the lovely family want me to produce a Christmas wish list... well they probably used the term "ideas for presents" but thought that was left wide open for creative interpretation ;-)

week four

The Hype Monster

Uber * hype * has an immensely negative impact on me... over many years films, gadgets, tv series, books and various fads have been given a wide berth purely because the * hype monsters * push stuff as *must* have/do!

However, just people watching amuses me... it is mildly amusing to be be a sidelines hype observer...

if you can avoid translating German and cope with fade in/out subtitle this is a clever, fun response to launch of iPad :o)

Or maybe just consider getting one of these, it's like a tiny ipad...

Magical stuff

Sugar Plum Fairy

It's Christmas Eve, and preparations are underway for a splendid party, taking place at the Stahlbaums’ house. The mysterious magician Drosselmeyer entertains the guests and young Clara receives from him the gift of a beautiful wooden Nutcracker doll. She is instantly enchanted.

Ballet is really a bit off the beaten track for me... thanks to a very easy to enter Twitter competition we got a pair of tickets for Birmingham Royal Ballet performance of The Nutcracker...

Wow! magical night out, simply blown away by the music, set design, special effects and stunning performances all round.

Quality stuff, get yourself there!

Explanations in Plain English

Writing about web page http://www.youtube.com/user/leelefever

Bit of a fan of Commoncraft – simple fun explanations!

Anyone sharing my sense of humor will love the examples given here :o)

Top tip: Commoncraft videos make useful ice breakers for IT induction sessions too!?

The negative split

Writing about web page http://www.justgiving.com/cath

Just being a part of the biggest road race in the world is an experience… this was my 4th with a dream plan of ‘good for age’ time (3hr 45mins) however the sheer congestion on route meant that after a ridiculously steady start settled for soaking up the atmosphere and enjoying it!! Best I’ve ever felt on route and although mile 25 was a touch painful the sight of Big Ben with the promise of The Mall (finish) just kept the ‘put one foot in front of the other’ mantra going.
