I think is crap. What’s the idea, too look younger…? I think they really push too far with this 80’s style, is fine for a couple of 2007 trainners or some MTV graphics, but it will be useful in 5 years time?

  3. Great comment on the BBC website – “It looks like Lisa Simpson giving oral relief of a sexual kind to Bart”.

  4. That is an abomination. The 2012 Olympics are going from bad to worse.

Well it caused me to sign my first online petition .

I didn’t know what the thing was until I read it was supposed to be 2012. Then I was even more repulsed.

Then I had a look at the accompanying video. I thought I was back in my early childhood – for reference: Mid to late 80’s.
ps – Don’t watch if you suffer from epilepsy. Or have any sort of artistic taste. Or any kind of taste.

    What. Were. They. Thinking. ?!?!

  6. That is shockingly bad. Quite frankly I’m embarrassed. I wonder how much they wasted on that?

I’ve just voted on the BBC Sport – you vote whether you think it’s worth a Gold, Silver, Bronze or wooden sppon award. So far 3400 odd votes have been cast and 83% have voted for wooden spoon. That’s got to say something.

  7. I like it. I know it’s not a very skilful design but I think it looks nice with the pink and white and the paper cutout feel to it. I don’t like the font of “London” (the ‘o’s shouldn’t be circular when all other curves have been removed) but overall I think it’s quite pleasant.

I’m not saying they couldn’t have come up with something better though.

Also, maybe it’s designed by really intelligent designers who know what is going to be fashionable in 2012 and when that year comes we’ll all appreciate the genius of it. (Not saying I think it’s genius at the moment, of course.)

I see someone sat at a desk working at a computer.

This cost £400K. It doesn’t exactly fill me with confidence for the rest of the Olympics.

I think their mistake was thinking a logo could be anything more than a logo. They wanted it to be vibrant, exciting, dynamic, engaging – all good words, but rarely if ever have I seen a ‘logo’ that carries any of those ideas. As far as logos go, I really don’t think it’s that bad – it could easily have been worse. They just overestimated what could be done with it.

In fairness, all I can see now is Lisa fellating Bart, that comment’s made the logo like 100x better!

  11. It’s shockingly bad.

  12. Why was it changed from the logo that incorporated the River Thames?

    08 Jun 2007, 16:53

  13. That was the logo for the bid.

  14. it is shit

  15. Taking another look, and using a little imagination, what exactly is Lisa Simpson doing to that man?

I wonder if they do that in vietnam-head

  17. Is it just me or is that the kind of thing people doodle when they dont really want to work?

I agree the logo is very disappointing but before anyone goes pointing the finger at the designers, shouldn’t we look at what the design brief was they were working to?
