The Best Albums of the Decade (so far!)
Jimmy , Adam and I were discussing yesterday the merits of the new Muse album. Verdict: nowhere near as good as the last one.
But it got us thinking about which albums of the 21st Century would be in our Top 10. Jimmy threw in Muse's Absolution, which I was a bit surprised with.
So here's my own:
10. Streets – A Grand Don't Come For Free
9. Blur – Think Tank
8. Delays – You See Colours
7. Franz Ferdinand – Franz Ferdinand
6. Paul Oakenfold – Bunkka
5. Coldplay – X&Y
4. Killers – Hot Fuss
3. Sigur Ros – Takk
2. Bloc Party – Silent Alarm
1. Coldplay – A Rush of Blood To The Head
Sounds like a challenge to me. I'm at work at the mo but I'm coming back with my list later…

None of those.
I guess the following would be in it, in some order:

8. Jimmy Eat World – Bleed American/Jimmy Eat World
7. Bloc Party – Silent Alarm
6. Elbow – Asleep In The Back
5. Interpol – Antics
4. Muse – Origin Of Symmetry
3. Idlewild – The Remote Part

Ah so that's what you did when we refused to get up at 8.30!

It was tough, but I managed to find petty reasons to jettison several favourites which have already been acknowledged by others. If it weren't for Bloc Party, The Automatic wouldn't have a riff for Monster and we wouldn't have to listen to their drivel every hour on Radio 1. The Remote Part had American English on it, the success of which caused Idlewild to go all Coldplay with their latest stuff. The Streets are also out because Dry Your Eyes got played too much.
10. Sons & Daughters – The Repulsion Box
9. The Coral – The Coral
8. Outkast – Speakerboxx/The Love Below
7. Jimmy Eat World – Jimmy Eat World
6. Maximo Park – A Certain Trigger
5. Kings Of Leon – Aha Shake Heartbreak
4. Franz Ferdinand – Franz Ferdinand
3. The Strokes – Is This It
2. The Arcade Fire – Funeral
1. The Libertines – Up The Bracket
Oh no! I forgot Razorlight!
