Fun, fun, fun!

Writing about web page http://www.newswales.co.uk/?section=Politics&F=1&id=9472

There’s going to be some televisual fun this lunchtime as a bunch of anarchists protest the new session of Parliament with a riot demo in Parliament Square, London.

The police are apparently taking it seriously, and I’m told the BBC are planning on making a big deal of it later today.

But it’s interesting there’s no mention of it on most news websites at the moment. Hopefully there’s so few people reading this blog that no-one will be encouraged to join in! I’m sure you’ll only get a battering from the cops anyway.

  1. What have you got against anarchists?

  2. What have they got against law and order?

  3. There are two ways to reply to that depending on what you mean. Do you mean – what do they have against law and order philosophically? or what do they have against the specific law about protesting outside parliament without permission?

  4. I’m not sure their protest (which ended up not being very violent, so not getting on the news) was really about the laws about protesting outside Parliament (which I find ridiculous). I think they were just after a row and were trying to disrupt Parliament.

  5. Well, their website says otherwise:

    We must sack parliament because:

    • It has been complicit in the war of terror and the continued destruction of Iraq and Afghanistan
    • It has failed to condemn and challenge acts of state terror and collective punishment from Lebanon and Palestine to all those illegally interned in Guantanamo Bay and Belmarsh
    • It has helped erode our civil rights: the right to free movement, free assembly and free speech have been undermined with curfews, ‘no protest’ zones, ASBOs and increased police power

MPs and Lords return from their summer recess on October 9th. We need to ensure they can’t get back inside Parliament to stop them spreading their culture of fear.

Take part! Stop them continuing their wars.
