A Stupid Day for Burying Fantastic News!
Two pieces of news which shouldn't have been buried today:
1. They're making a movie based on '24'.
2. It's only gonna be shot in bloody London!
Get in. Also, I want one of these t–shirts, but they're £18!
A 24 movie does indeed sound like a good idea, but… I fear what makes 24 as good as it is is it's real–time–ness. Few hours to build up the plot, some story, some action, some twists, rinse repeat 3 times, then huge finale. By now you've been sitting in the cinema for 24 of course :).
I've lots of questions which I'm sure we'll get answers to soon, but they'd better not wreck it.
In better news though, 3 more season of 24… huzzah!

Apparently the film will have a real–time element, although the entire two–and–a–something hours might not be in real–time. Kiefer Sutherland's described it in the past as probably being a big event (i.e. terrorist attack) which kicks off the real–time response to it (i.e. Jack kicking ass).

Yeah, I guess it's pushing even 24's version of plausibility to expect Jack Bauer to be able to discover, hunt down, and kill a group of terrorists who wish to destroy the world all in about two and a half hours. I'll be interested to see what format they would use….I wouldn't say no to a two–hour terroist–slaying set piece though :–D

I have to admit some of my favourite terrorist slaying fests are when the real marines get involved. They just roll up in a Cobra Attack Helicopter, Black Hawk, Hummer, I don't care, they get larger calibre guns than Jack, so they're quite exciting to watch too. I wonder too whether we can expect the movie to kill off a few good characters along the way, might make a nice change from some other hollywood films.
Pity we probably won't see this til 2008 at the earliest. :\

Yep, they confirmed there was going to be a 24 movie at the start of April when Kiefer signed up for 3 more seasons. I think one of the co–creators was saying on 24:Inside the other day that the movie would like likely be one whole day with real time elements interspersed with cuts while Jack travels from the US to UK for example.
News to me that there going to film some in London but I know the exec producers have wanted to go to London for a while to film 24 as there was a rumour they were going to do a whole season in London at one point but I think the fact they need constant weather like you get in LA for 6 months put them off going to London as they couldn't have it rain one scene and be really sunny the next etc.
There's also a movie out in the US called The Sentinel where Kiefer plays a secret service guy hunting down a mole inside the secret service who is trying to assasinate the president but it has got really poor reviews and I haven't got round to seeing it yet but from the trailer it is a bit like a 24 movie
