Hooray for Stagecoach
Amusing things seem to happen on Stagecoach buses. They always seem to happen to Jimbo (and sometimes Rob too), but very very occasionally I will be lucky enough to witness something funny. For example;
Two weeks ago I was on the bus coming onto campus, and as some people got off at the University House stop, the drunkard who had got on at Kenilworth shouted after them, "Thank you for flying with Stagecoach!"
Last week, an old woman got on the bus at the top of the Parade. I was on a seat on my own, and nearer to me was a copy of that day's Metro publication. The lady asked me to pass it to her, which I did, and she then said "Oh, you are a lovely girl!" and proceeded to give me half a bag of grapes. She then went and gave the bus driver the rest of the bag of grapes for driving the bus. As I got off, she called after me, "Bye, Emily!"
It later occurred to me that I had met that same old lady at the bus stop at the top of the Parade last year after coming home from Bambi's one day, only she was going in the opposite direction, and that time she called me Harriet, and said hello to everyone that walked past the bus stop.
She's cool. I hope I'm like her when I grow up.
