Remove the link to our website?!?!

Back in June 2006, I blogged about a Masquerade ball I attended with my girlfriend and briefly mentioned the website I bought our masks from - fancydress.com

Two years on; early this June I got a strange email from the supposed webmaster of this site. It read as follows:

Dear Webmaster

We have discovered that you are linking to our website, www.fancydress.com, on the following URL:

Please would you remove the link to our website.  Will you please confirm by email that you have received this email and the link has been removed.

Kind regards,

I was perplexed as to why a webmaster would request the removal of a link to his website from my blog. He sent the same email today.

I really can't understand?!? I did not deflame the site neither did I make any complaint about the mask I got from them. This is all I had to say about the site on the post -

I got the masks from fancydress.com a week earlier but still wasn’t sure if I was going.

I have decided not to respond to the email but rather use this post as an avenue to ask the webmaster WHY I should remove my link to his site.

Just to clarify what’s going on, we’re currently in the process of optimizing our website (SEO) and are in the process of removing all links that are damaging our page rank. The links on your page were in this category, and as such, I must ask you to remove all links to our site.
    Many thanks,
    Jeremy Morris
