Market report: Private Equity 2010
Yesterday TheCityUK released its latest report on the global Private Equity market. This report analyses trends in private equity investments and fund raising for 2009 and the first half of 2010.
Summary of findings
- Global private equity investments fell by half from $181bn in 2008 to $91bn in 2009. Investments of UK private equity firms echoed this fall.
- At 6.3%, global M&A volume generated from private equity backed activity was at its lowest in a decade.
- Global fund-raising fell by two thirds from $459bn in 2008 to $150bn in 2009.
- The UK has held its position as the second largest private equity centre.
