Brass on Sundays

Writing about web page

Someone asked me on Wednesday night when the next Brass on Sundays concert at Symphony Hall is.

The concert due on 27th November has been postponed until 12th February, and will be with Black Dyke. As always it's at 3pm, tickets are now £7.50 for students, and as it's Black Dyke, booking in advance is recommended.

Arban Cornet Method

Writing about web page

Can't afford a copy of the Arban (a.k.a. Brass Players Bible?)
Can't be arsed to carry the damn thing around anyway and wish it was in A4?

Download it for free from here

Now, go do some practice!

N.B. This edition published 1879 – the pdf author believes it to be out of copyright.

mmmm curry….

Follow-up to Anyone Fancy A Curry on Friday? from BrassSoc's Blog

Ok here is the plan:

  • tonight, start on campus from 7.30ish

  • have a cheaky one in the bar. phone the bengal just in case they can fit us in

  • set off for earlsdon on 8.15 or 8.45 bus

  • arrive earlsdon, investiage local pubs (i.e. spoons)

  • head to curry house (probably akbars) for 9.30

  • eat curry. mmmm.

You know where we will be when, if you want curry, turn up.

Anyone Fancy A Curry on Friday?

Writting this on behalf of Mr Matt Shields (formerly of the bass section if you don't know him) who has decided to come visit this weekend, and wants to go for curry.

So if anyone is up for a trip to a curry house this friday at arround 9 o'clock, let me know.

If there's any interest, then I'll book a table at the Bengal in advance. If not we'll wait 'til friday and see who is interested on the night. The bengal will probably be full by then (well it is the best for miles!), so we'll have to explore elsewhere.

mmmm curry….
