The Quorum for the Referenda is 1417.

In addition, motions will also be quorate if 945 votes are cast for, or 945 votes are cast against.

  3. Sorry, do we need 1417 to vote in total on each motion, and 945 for either For or Against for it to be passed?

  4. No, we need one of three things to happen:

either 1417 vote in total (including for, against and abstain)

    or 945 vote for

    or 945 vote against.

Any of the above would make us quorate, and then the result would be decided by a simple majority.

  5. I'm wondering if it would be possible to perhaps have a totaliser on the front page of the sunion website showing in real time exactly how many people have voted?

  6. That'd be well cool!

You would definitely have to have Peter Snow type graphics for it. It'd be just like blue peter. Benny, we need this in future, shall i bring a motion to council?

  7. We should definitely have Peter Snow type graphics for the results on the Union homepage – and some less boring motions to Union Council.

  8. I don't know whether Elections Group would go for that incase it lead to increases in tacticle non–voting.

We could probably do with Peter Snow graphics for the results…
