B2B Centre's Members Networking Event

Writing about web page http://www.nb2bc.co.uk/events/

I'm pleased to say Wednesday's networking evening held at the National Metalforming Centre, West Brom was a great success.  There was a great networking buzz, we had 40 SME's get together to discuss/ share ideas, meet new contacts and chat to the B2B team.

Guest speaker Craig Clarke from Beatroot Visual Solutions, a multimedia production company, delivered an inspiring speech on how he set-up his business and used e-business tools such as Open Source Software and Search Engine Optimisation to market his business online.

We also had three business pitches who all delivered a short speech about what they can offer the network and how they used the web to reach a wider audience.

Ian Williams, Atlantic Business Resources PLC

Kacey Akpoteni, Teni's Catering Services

Graham Sullivan, FactoryMaster Ltd

They all kindly spoke about how the B2B Centre advised them on e-marketing tools and techniques to help optimise their websites.  Thank you for your great comments, it's nice to receive such positive feedback!

We look forward to the next one which will be on 25th June.

A night of referrals, recycling and running with the windů

The decision to take B2B Centre events around the region looks like a good one, as our lively Members Networking in Birmingham proved. First stop was Aston Science Park on 8th March ….

After welcoming delegates and sharing the latest news Director Martin King-Turner introduced upbeat business pitches from three members of the network. First up was Motionworks, a young innovative company specialising in web technology, who aim to bring your website to life! Next up was The M Word, ‘M’ standing for Marketing, which MD Clare Satterly is clearly expert in, as she offered the network a competition to win a 1 hour marketing consultation. Finally, and unforgettably, was Peter Martin of Junkk.com who advocates re-use of all junk to save the planet. He showed how a vacuum could be turned into a rucksack and reminded us all of the unnecessary rubbish that goes in our office waste bin.

Next up was special guest speaker Jo Cameron of BBC’s The Apprentice who showed the same enthusiastic spirit we had witnessed on TV. With her passionate presence and zest for life Jo shared how ‘running with the wind’ on her jog at 5am in the morning (we told you she was keen!) has many similarities with the enthusiasm needed for running a business. The message was clear: focus and be positive.

With this in mind the delegates went on to network, sharing their ideas, experiences and referrals with one another over a delicious buffet.   The buzzing atmosphere and sideline activities such as the Google Local demo and UKITA’s stand all added to the value of the evening. One delegate commented; “It was good to be a part of such a network.”

We hope that you all learnt something or at least returned to the office with fresh optimism on Friday morning!

The next event will be in the summer.
