Shitshitshit

Have just managed to snap CD drive. I take it this is not good. What on earth do I do now?! It won't close or anything!!

Travelling, jobs…fnah.

Just spoken to my lovely mother on the phone. I swear my father travels more than he used to!! They got back from Washington DC on Thursday, my Dad then went to Amsterdam on the Friday, and is now on his way to Brazil. Then next week he's going to Seoul for a week, and then the following week he's going somewhere else. All of this is interspersed with 'day meetings' in Amsterdam/Brussels/Paris etc. I really don't know how he does it. My Father has travelled a lot ever since I can remember, and I've always hated it, because it means he's constantly tired/jetlagged, because he's always travelling means he has to work at the weekends, and my mother gets miserable every time he goes away because they're inseperable and now we've all left home she gets very lonely. I've always thought I'd like a job where I travelled. But I'm not sure I could handle one where travelling was so much an integral part of it. Sure my parents have had interesting lives, lived in several countries, but the choices they've had to make have been big ones, and have a big impact on our family.

Since the major part of my mother's telephone conversation was an argument about me knowing (or not knowing as is more accurate) what I'm going to be doing next year, the whole job thing is something I really have to think about. I really don't know what I want to do though. Maybe doing a Phd isn't such a bad idea after all..
