GMail and dots

One of my friend today sent me an email on my gmail account at address ashutoshtrivedi, while my account is ashutosh.trivedi. I was initially puzzeled about what was really going on and then I came across this FAQ from GMail.
Gmail doesn’t recognize dots (.) as characters within a username. This way, you can add and remove dots to your username for desired address variations. For example, messages sent to GoogleAmy@gmail.com and Google.Amy@gmail.com are delivered to the same inbox.
So enjoy sending email to your friends by placing dots anywhere you love to and you dont have to worry about mailerdaemon.
