Week 9 XING

We’ll be meeting in Meeting Room 6 in Union North at 20:30 this Friday for XING.

XING is a recursive acronym that stands for ‘XING Is Not Gaming’. It is intended to run alongside and in the same venue as gaming, to allow for those members of the Computing Society who are not particularly interested by gaming.

As gaming is not currently running, we will probably make our way to the Department of Computer Science so if you can’t join us at the start, meet us there later.

Hope to see you there!

Week 8 XING

This Friday evening we will, as ever, have the XING. This week it will start at 8.30 in The Bar (in Rootes Social).

There will likely be work on the nursery project, but if you’re not interested feel free to turn up and do whatever you want.

Advanced Java Part I: Reflection

Richard Warburton (mulletron) will be giving a talk on advanced Java, focusing specifically on reflection, at the WUGLUG meeting in Week 8 (28/2).  This talk will cover the basics of Java reflection and then delve into some performance analysis.  It will conclude by demonstrating how to produce a real world example of how to use reflection to add aspect orientated debugging code to a program with minimal changes.

As ever, we will be meeting from 7pm in Presentation Room B, on the top floor of the Learning Grid.

In what will hopefully be the first of many such trips, a group of WUGLUGgers are travelling to the lovely city of Brussels, Belgium to attend the "Free and Open Source Software Developers' European Meeting", a free and non-commercial event for the community and organised by the community.

More information on the event itself can be found at the FOSDEM website and, for those attending, more specific information can be found on the WUGLUG wiki.

Since we are on an odd week, this week's Warwick University GNU/Linux User Group (WUGLUG) meeting will be a Pubglug, which means we will be at the Phantom Coach, from about 7pm onwards on Wednesday.  If you fancy joining us for a pint, or a meal then just turn up!  The phantom coach is about 5 minutes walk from campus, if you want directions, then either login to irc.wuglug.org.uk and join #wuglug or email wuglug@lists.wuglug.org.uk and ask.
