Blogging Medical Students

Lots of first year medics have not blogged their learning styles and very few have responded to the blog prompt 20th September. If this is to be meaningful they need to do the necessary and then blog their responses. If they don't get on with it then the PIG will come and get them!

  1. I was under the impression that blogging was going to be optional – Is the med school making it compulsory?

    Max,
Blogging per se is optional but responding to blog prompts is designed to enable your learning and reflection techniques.
The ultimate aim is to make more self aware.

Just in case anyone is terrified by the PIG, this is not a Lord of the Flies reference:
PIG =' Personal development planning Implementation Group'

We may not 'get you' but we will encourage Medical Students to consider, record, reflect and hopefully report back to us all the issues about joining the course, learnig the content, and how to acquire the skills of being a member of the medical profession.

This is mostly for students' own benefit, as the GMC identifies the need for Doctors who can become lifelong learners, with skills of self-analysis and reflection. However as we seek to shape the curriculum, we value highly the comments of those who are undergoing it. And therfore we promote blogging, and commend the innovative approach of Warwick in making this available. Please keep letting us know how things are going, either through your blogs, or the Staff Student Liaison Committee… (or confidentially through your tutor… or any member of staff, or to me if it is about elearning: stephen.brydges@warwick.ac.uk)
