Screen Cast #2 – More on the Data Bound Tree View

Here's the second screen cast

It shows off the more advanced features of the Data Bound Tree View control. These include binding to a recursive data structure, automatic node reordering upon source list sorting and dynamic custom node creation.

Check it out and let me know what you think!

Nice screencast Andrew, very easy to follow. The control looks professional as well – I was wondering though; does it parse child nodes on-the-fly or when you associate it with the datasource? Would make a difference for very large trees and/or when a single node takes a non-trivial amount of time to parse. Anyway, keep up the good work. Regards, —lamby

  2. Presently all nodes are loaded when the data source is set. However, it would relatively simple to add a load on demand property. The trick is to put a dummy child node below any node that has children. That way the control will still show the [+] symbol. We can then handle the BeforeExpand event and load the actual child list as needed.

I will look into implementing this feature and let you know how I get on. Thanks for the suggestion. I'm glad you liked the screen cast!
