First Blog Entry

2 out of 5 stars

In my first term in the University of Warwick, the Warwick Student Cinema society were allowing students free entry to watch Battleship. Having nothing better to do, with a friend tagging along, I went to Lecture Theatre 3 of Science Concourse to watch it. When attending the screening, it felt like being in a real cinema. Too bad I couldn't get ny popcorn.

Either Hollywood is getting their ideas ffrom CollegeHumour as the film is based on a board game or it was the start of ‘Mediocre Movie Season’ as coined by CollegeHumour because Academy Awards Ceremony just ended. Though there were hilarious moments, the movie was nothing special. It’s a generic story about Earthlings finding new life on another planet and the aliens invading us. The main star has problems with his girlfriend’s father, is considered a bit of joke, but by the end of film after the invasion fails he is considered a hero and gets the girl. As you guessed it, the tactics the aliens used is similar to that of the board game Battleship. At least nobody said “You sunk my Battleship!”
