Not dead, just tired.
It just wouldn’t be university without network problems.
After two weeks of internetlessness (spent in DCS with a new 1GB pendrive), we now have a system whereby we pay Tiscali lots of money for something which I break, on average, once a day. And then I fix it, so that everyone will love me.
During the period of no internet, I started playing Battle for Wesnoth, which is mostly fun, but then annoying when the computer decides to kill all your nice levelled up units. But I suspect I shall have to stop playing that, due to the distractiveness of the internet and the massive amounts of socialising I’m doing.
This includes going bowling and refuting Hennell’s idea that if you bowl left-handedly it miraculously improves your ability, going with people to see four films over the course of a week, and last Sunday, when I attended James Wright’s baptism in the morning, played Ultimate Frisbee in the afternoon, and attended the Assassin’s Guild social in the evening.
I’ve joined fully twice the number of societies that I did last year, being a new member of the Assassin’s Guild and the Video Game Design society. Not sure how much I’ll actually do with the latter (LotH game development has slowed to the pace of LotH 2 editing), but the Assassin’s Guild should be awesome. You all should join.
I’ve had a dead phone battery since the start of term, which can actually be a good thing. Not having any form of time-keeping device on you means that you always feel later than you actually are. You can get anywhere you like in ten minutes if you don’t know when you left (living only ten minutes’ walk away from campus also helps). And it really adds to the fun of getting lost when you know that the person you’re looking for has no possible way of contacting you.
