Vectors and Matricies

For some reason vectors and matricies are very hard to get my head around....

Vectors - probably because they make no sense when you draw a 2D representation of a 3D plane or collection of planes or whatever. Especially because I can't draw.

Matricies - It's easy to learn methods to work out determinants and all the rest of it, but how are you supposed to fully understand them when they're just a collection of numbers without any application or use currently known to us?!?!?!?!?! I know they are used for things, but without knowing what, I know that I just won't remember all the formulae and techniques for manipulating them. Because my brain doesn't work on memorising equations then mindlessly putting in values..... anyway we'll see.....

Matrices (and vectors) are used A LOT in computer graphics – they are absolutely essential. I hope that helps your brain.
