why are u alive/Why do u live?

Watched the movie Equilibrium. Very good movie. Loved these lines:

Mary: Why are u alive?
John: I am alive…I live to safeguard the Colonudi of the great society, to serve liberian
Mary: it is circular. You exist to continue your existence. What is the point?
John: What is the point of your existence?
Mary: To feel. because if you have never done it, you will never know it. But it is as violent as breath. And without it, without love, without anger, without sorrow, breath is just a clock, ticking.

A fundamental failure of rationality as the base of humanity!

It is at this moment i suddenly realized the impotence of logic, rationality, and the fundamental law of consistency.

Life, human life, is intrinsically paradoxical in itself, featured, permeated, and most important of all, generated by this paradox.The aporia of Reason and emotion, that has been quarreled for thousands of years by philosophers, seems to be crystal clear here. It is exactly this perpetual paradox, that underlines any meaningful ways of life.
