Till Troll: Pretty in Pink

Because Junko Mizuno is awesome and her art blows my mind, I did this at my last anime convention…

The Director from Pure Trance

( I think Jasper took this photo. If it was someone else from Amecon, thank you for the picture! )

You should all read Pure Trance. Now. :D

After 3 showers, parts of the Till Troll are still pink…

Till Troll doodles

One hard working panda

Yes, yes she is. Isn't she a good girl? As long as stooodying means doooodling that is.

//And yeah, blog compression sucks. As does my scanner.//

Why should I?

I was in town a few months back, and saw an anti animal testing stand. I asked the protester there what she would do if she contracted a disease which required treatment using medicine tested on animals. Her response was that she would weigh her suffering against the animals' and take the treatment. So I asked her why the other humans who suffered the disease shouldn't have the animal tested treatment, but she should. She couldn't answer. Needless to say, I made sure the other visitors to the stall knew of her hypocrisy.

I have three questions for every Anti Animal Testing activist I meet.

1. Do you carry a donor card, and have you made clear that you want your body donated to medical research after your death?

2. Do you have a living will stating that in the event you become seriously ill you do not want to be treated with medicines that have been tested on animals, even if you are likely to die without them, and even if your family objects.

3. Have you ever participated in human trials for medical drugs?

If they can't answer yes to all three, I label them armchair activists. Happy enough to moralise in order to salve their own consciences, but not commited enough to actually make a real contribution to animal rights.

And a real contribution is not defined an act of violence against someone involved in animal testing. Those who do act violently do so because they realise that the actual commitment required by a true Animal Rights activist is beyond them, whereas beating a scientist to death seems easier. They also do so because they realise the sacrifices they are demanding of society will never be stomached- most won't volunteer for human testing if it involves considerable risk, and when ill, most will want to get better no matter what it takes. So they commit violence like terrorists, because in debate their doctrine rarely has the full human backing and commitment it requires to have an effect.

Violent animal rights activists are terrorists, and should be dealt with as such. Their attempts to enforce their beliefs restrict and threaten the liberty and choices of others. They use violence to incite terror, they cause harm to humans, and believe murder is just a means to an end. They are terrorists.

So in conclusion, until every A.R. activist the Till Troll meets satisfies those three conditions, and until science has produced an equivalently reliable way of testing drugs without animals, she will advocate animal testing as the most effective way of producing medicine. Why should the Till Troll deprive her family of medical treatment and opportunity when the person telling her to wouldn't do so to their own family? This post is about the blatant hypocrisy and lack of true commitment of 99% of animal rights protestors.

(btw I have lots of cats and dogs at home, and love them dearly. But I wouldn't run back into a burning house to save them. I'd run back in for my sisters instead. That's how I prioritise animals and humans)

South Dakota Idiocy

South Dakota ruling

And that is the law as it will come in on July 1st, or 31st, but gives a damn about the date? That cartoon is actually going to be law there. No abortions for anyone who hasn't got a medical reason. So if I was living there and was raped I would be forced to carry his child. Even if he was a close relation. That's just cruel and sick- to the victim.

Everyone talks about pregnancy as if it's a 24 week deadline or a 9 month stint. It's not. It's 20 years of supporting a child. It's irreperable damage to your body caused by pregnancy. Are they going to make the rapist pay child support? From prison? Or if they never catch him? A woman's whole life taken. To satisfy the morals of others. I wonder, will they fund her and the child until it is old enough so she can work? Will they pay for a nanny so she can continue her career? No. The extent of their commitment goes towards limiting the choices of others, imposing their views and classing every woman who has had an abortion as being promiscuous. These same people tend to be those who criticise a woman as "abandoning" her kid if she givees the child up for adoption. Not to mention the horrible emotional strain on both child and mother.

On the general issue of abortion, I am pro choice. Because I don't believe the foetus is alive until it can survive on it's own (and no amount of hate posting is going to change my mind so don't bother) and because I find it abhorrent that someone else can dictate what a woman does with her body. Sniping at me isn't going to change that. And I am not going to Hell, because I dont believe in Hell.

There are many issues in abortion- to what extent should a man have a say, when should the cut off be, when is the foetus considered alive… I don't want to get into these arguments here. This post has a simple message. The ruling in South Dakota is wrong. Horribly horribly wrong.

On a quick note, for those of you who think girls who have sex and get pregnant deserve it, rapists rarely give a damn whether you are practising abstinence as a form of birth control or not. Contraception can fail. Marital rape and general relationship rape are still happening. And for all those who say that women who choose to have sex must take responsibility for the baby, what about men taking responsibility for their sperm? Take part in the male contraceptive injection trial. Please. Make contraception an equal responsibility too.

(and yes, it's a bad cartoon, but I was really angry when I read about this)

edit

Oh fantastic, apparantly, this law doesn't prohibit the use of the 'morning after pill' in cases of incest and rape. So Uncle Bob is going to take 13 year old Casey to his GP in the morning and ask for the pill is he?

Till Troll go Boom!

Late follow up on the varied and unusual health of the Till Troll: Rheumatology has said its not her joints, its her nerves, and have referred her to Neurology for Nerve Conduction tests, or something similar. Which means this is a problem that cannot be cured with cod liver oil, Dad. Basically they are testing to see if she has Pianist's Cramp, or technically, focal dystonia, in her hands. She hopes not. She's done her research tho, and her symptons are different to f.d. symptons, so she is just hoping it's overstretched nerves like last time :)

Speaking of Neurology, here is a picture of my current mental state:

What do you think of the new Vicky? I like it. I've been drawing like it for about 4 months now. I still do Till Trolls tho. I've also drawn my whole family like it. You have no idea how tempting it is to do a Hamilton-Morris family blog. Some of the stories I could tell you…

(The Till Troll gets savagely mauled by her middle sisters, and gives up the idea)

Friday 13th!

Beware of Till Trolls….

I wonder if this one will work... I hate this blogs compression

Spot the ghost! For this Friday 13th post, there is a ghost in one of the panels. Can you see it? There is also a delibrate mistake (ahem).

This was a bit rough, but I like it. And that catchphrase is so omnipresent now. They created a monster. Hee hee.

For the record, the cereals in the background are Alpha Flakes, Betastix, Mu-slie, Gamma Snax and Boris Porridge. Cos they sound yummy.

mmmm, maybe I should add Till Troll yelling meep in the third panel. And how can I save it so the quality isn't so crummy?

sniff I want my scanner back!!!!!

ps. I will get decent copies of my pics up that dont suffer the infernal blog compression soon. Argh.

Of pets and peanut butter

I died.

Till Troll is really very asthmatic. There are certain things that make her dead. Changes in the weather, smoke, feathers, pollen, stress, any illness like a virus or a cold, the wrong materials, dusting, not dusting, exercise, hiccups, sneezing… and her dogs and cats.

Is that not cruel? 16 years of living with her pets, Till Troll leaves for boarding school and develops an allergy. Which means she survives about a week at her parents' house before her lungs stop working and she goes blue. At Nana's, where the heating is only turned on when it's freezing, and the house is damp as well as doggy, that's 3 days.

The sensible action would be to limit my exposure to my pets. Erm, no. The thought of never hugging Chloe again fills me with the deepest woe. And I am not about to let asthma rule me! (Unlike the boyfriend of one of my sisters, who hides in her room because of his allergy, you wimp, I could die! you just sneeze)

So tomorrow I am going to the doctor, asking for help like a peanut butter addict who has just developed an intolerance for nuts. heh heh heh.

And I fully intend to have a cat one day. Maybe a Sphinx kitty tho…

Far far away to that silent land

I love that poem.

That silent land in this case being the Till Troll's grandparent's house. In the middle of the Lincolnshire Wolds. Without Internet. With German speaking TV (Nana got a sky box, cancelled all the english channels, and has music festivals on all day. And Zonk. I like Zonk.).

In the event she survives this, by the end of the week, Till Troll will be 22 years old officially. So old. Like, on her way to 30. Although, when trying to buy new glasses, the lady at Specsavers asked her where her school voucher was…

I love my Nana's house. It is quiet and relaxing and is also inhabited by a small rabid demon dog known as Chloe (eternal puppy jack russel), who I adore and will steal one day, or maybe just eat. She would be so yummy. But it is not a good house for working in. The extreme relaxation fields mean I sleep 15 hours a night, and spend the rest of the days doing the puzzles in my granddad's paper, and eating Nana's food (amazing German food, awesome German food, she teaches me stuff too!). Anyways, I have 4 weeks to write my interim report, but it's really 3 weeks, as all I ever manage at my Nana's house is a bit of light revision. So stressy Till Troll over here.

As I write this entry, I am sketching a Till Troll. Since the untimely and hopefully temporary demise of my scanner, I have been drawing like crazy, but none of it is being scanned/displayed. So no shinyness from me in ages. Hopefully the problem will be resolved when I go home, so those of you who don't think the Till Troll is just a badly done squiggle will be satisfied… and I know you exist (hello Mum!).

The hat the Till Troll is wearing is the hat she made cos she loves Gir. She also bought a Mega Gir last week, and Mega Gir now wears that hat. It is quite possibly the cutest and weirdest thing ever. For the record, Jhonen Vasquez and Nickelodeon have the Invader Zim stuff (and Gir), and you should all buy it and watch it because it is awesome. I have, and I love it. And so do sooo many people on campus, you'd be surprised. I had random people photographing me in my hat.

God, that is a bad pic, sorry, it did only take me about 5 mins. It's 2 in the morning, I am travelling at 9am, I haven't packed, and I need to tidy this room before I go. Argh argh argh. Okay, when I get back, I will redraw that pic!

Stay tuned for next term, when the Return Of The Scanner hits your screens and all the shiny pictures I've hand coloured over the last 6 weeks get displayed. I've tried a new art style, and fancy showing it off. :) Bear with the directionlessness of these posts please :p

The Till Troll is going to pack now… gamecube, computer, teddy, done.

Woooo, spinny

The Till Troll says Hi.

Haven't updated in a while because the Till Troll has been busy, plus everytime she has thought about updating, there's always been something more fun to do… (usually gaming or drawing).

Have done lots of shiny drawings that I may post, and the odd Till Troll pic. This is just a filler post to inform you that the Till Troll still lives, currently on 3 sets of pills, and will post properly soon.

On the title note, have just had my first migraine related vertigo attack in about 5 or 6 months. At first I didn't recognise it, and started to panic, then I went blind and stopped worrying- obviously a migraine. (not fully blind, everything just flashes glitzy and I cant see) So am dosed up with paracetamol, swaying from side to side, and still copying out notes. Well, I've never let them stop me before.

And I have a rheumatology appointment in January to sort out my joint pain which I've had since I was 16. Quite serious really, I cant play piano properly anymore. Or not the fun fast pieces at any rate.

Tomorrow the Till Troll is adventuring in London, and having fun on the Tube. Expect a blog and pic on that to come soon, if she ever makes it back… (big cities are so easy to get lost in, I'm a village girl)

Till Troll, last seen on the Circle Line, now living wild on the Underground, preying on tourists… yummy.

Freshers Flu

The Till Troll has spent her weekend with fresher's flu, and is miserable. Rather then go to bed, she decided to chronicle her pain. This picture was done entirely on the computer, as she left the power pack for her scanner at home…

I thought of this walking back from a lecture, giggled, Nomi asked why, I told her, and she said I was weird. Meep
