Is my PDA wait finally over?
Writing about web page http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/09/iphone-3g-is-finally-official/
The iPhone 3G seems to tick all the boxes, and if the UK pricing rumours turn out to be true then I think I’m going to have to be in a queue somewhere in July 11th. I can’t believe I’m saying that about an Apple product:-)

The other Steve said it would sell for $199 worldwide which should mean around £100 plus contract. O2 and Carphone Warehouse are still listed as the only UK vendors. In particular it does not seem to be available through the Apple Store any more.
What’s the betting it doesn’t work with our Exchange setup :-)

According to Gizmodo UK, the 8GB model will be £99 on a £30/month contract and the 16GB model will be £159. They are cheaper on more expensive tariffs. Those tariffs include “unlimited” 3G data and free WiFi via BT’s OpenZone hotspots and The Cloud. That actually sounds very tempting, but I’m waiting to see what the PAYG tariffs are like. I don’t make lots of calls (< £10/month) so if there was a decently priced PAYG tariff that included data, I’d be very, very interested…
