Quitándole al tiempo los segundos…

Antología by Shakira

me ensenaste a decir mentiras piadosas

I know many hate her today because of her very commercial songs like "Whenever Whatever" (and I mean that literally), but when Shakira started out her musical career, she wrote beautiful lyrics like these. And I'll defend her artistic potential and her husky voice always, even if signing a contract with Emilio Estevez was the worse thing she could've done; even if it got her loads of money. Who cares? We've lost a great artist.

Anyways, what I really wanted to say was that this song is truly amazing, really very deep felt. Love can teach you so many subtle things, selfless, even if it is not reciprocated. And you carry your melancholy with it, along with the memories, because love leaves threads ('hilo'), deep incrustated inside the heart. And you forget how to live without it for all the things that it taught you to appreciate in the past. I wonder how many things I have learned over the years…how many have made me what I am today. How many different ways of kissing have a learned? Over a thousand…? I hope so….
