The Meaning of LOL
It has come to my attention that I use the internet acryonm "lol" (laugh out loud for those of you not in the know) waaaaaaaaay to much, particularly as I only mean it about 1% of the time.
What I need is some kind of short way of saying "That brief, silent laughter you get when mildly amused"

I actually use hehe when I find something funny, as I tend to use LOL for everything, especially when I don't have anything worth saying as a reply, another common one I reply with is 'Oh well'.

i usually use 'ha ha' or, 'he he' because i find that lol (laugh out loud) from the meaning, tells me that you only need to use it when somethings really funny.

I personally think that the whole “hee hee” “hahaha” “tee hee” phases are incrediably annoying in emails. I think that they are unnecessary and you don’t need to let someone know when something is funny because if it is funny then you will laugh on your own accord therefore jog on!

I think these phrases are very necessary, Naomi, since people OFTEN misinterprate your intentions when writing in this “virtual” world, where you can’t see people’s facial expressions or hear their tone of voice.
