Fractured Reality 2.0
Writing about web page http://www.fractured-reality.co.uk/
So this is what I have been doing for the last week and a half. I think it's finished now, to the extent that
- I'm reasonably happy with the design and the possibly better one I thought of looked crap when I implemented it
- The inconsistencies within a given browser are small enough that (probably) I am the only one to notice them – because I know where to look – and thus I don't want to spend the next 3893434 hours of my life trying to fix them (again).
- It looks the same in Firefox and IE! Well, no. It looks slightly better in Firefox, but I once again decided that I wasn't going to waste my life trying to achieve 1 to 3-pixel shifts in IE, while keeping everything in the same place in Firefox.
I haven't tested it in any other browsers – feedback would be welcome as long as it's useful. Telling me "you suck" isn't helping anyone :-P
Oh, and if you are using resolution worse than 1024×768, it won't look any good. This is officially your fault for having a crap monitor. (I can't make it smaller because of the pics section.)
There's probably a few other things I'll add to it in the next few days, plus some of the pictures are crap and need to be taken again. But I think it's reached the point where I'm happy with it enough to release it on the world :-)
Finally - I am not responsible for the difference in spacing on the left and right. If viewed in Firefox it is the same, and for some reason there is no scrollbar. In IE the content doesn't shift when a scrollbar is needed. This is the fault of the forwarding settings from my domain name's host (ergh, frames) and I can't do anything to change it. Once I get round to sorting out external hosting, I won't need to do this forwarding so the problem will go away. I hope. Fixed!
Oh yeh – and I just thought I'd change the blog name to confuse people ;-)
