Establishing who's boss
Much though Apple is a fluffy bundle of love, there are a few areas of 'discussion' we are currently having whilst developing our friendship!
1) Her food and my food
Can I please eat my meal in peace without having the 'added bonus' of a paw and/or nose in it? :)
2) Kitchen worktops
Not for cats…but this is clearly an area of disagreement!
3) Houseplants
Not for eating. My poor plant has had all of it's leaves bitten in half!
4) Upstairs windows
Not for climbing out of unless in suicide bid
5) Nighttime
A peaceful time for sleeping – especially for those of us who have work the next day! Not a time for playing, running around like a mad thing or being vocal.
Other than that, it is all lovely in the house of Rachel and Apple! It's an enjoyable time of getting to know each other and she really is a great character!

You can probably work on some of those, but if I were you I'd abandon all hope of improving her on numbers 2, 3, and 4 and just resign yourself to catty work surfaces, ruined plants, and plaintive mewing from a cat stuck on the windowsill.

I don’t have the same issue with food (maybe that says something about my cooking) however, every time I put a package together (usually something I’ve sold on ebay) my cat becomes obsessed with every part of the process – cellotape, bubble wrap, the little strip you peel off the back of an envelope to reveal the sticky bit. It’s such a distraction that last time I sent the wrong things to the wrong people. And when new stuff arrives in the post she’s jumping around like a mad thing. And she’s now chewed through half a roll of double-sided sticky tape. Is this normal for a cat?
