Terrapins

Just come back to the traumatic shock of work after a lovely week doing very little…...well actually quite a lot but it was also very relaxing!! :)

Anyway we were out shopping at Melbicks and decided to purchase two Yellow Belly Terrapins which are facinating to watch. They're as easy to keep as tropical fish providing you provide the correct UV light and supply a varied diet.

The one on the left is Terry and the one on the right is Bob. They're quite difficult to photograph especially as the UV light is harmful to humans!

  1. Terry and Bob – thats brilliant. And I bet they dont' watch any Englands games and then spend the rest of the night trying not to get the result? Come now, do tell, its true isn't it?

It's almost impossible to tell the sex of a terrapin until it's about 6 months old. When they reach this age look at their belly – on males it's slightly concave on females it's flat.
