Sioux

Sioux (3.XXXI.iii &c).

A term for the Dakota Indian people of North America (Bib:COD). Walcott depicts the enforced relocation of the Sioux people, leaving their land to the European colonisers, in the passages focussed on Catherine Weldon in Chapters 34 and 35.
