ArXiv seems to be getting very popular and now there is even a website which ranks ArXiv papers in terms of the number of tweets they are getting on twitter.
Sounds a slightly strange way to rank scientific papers, but it's an interesting web site and for more explanation you can see this post on Gerry McKiernans blog.

We recently told you about arXiv, an open access database from Cornell University, holding thousands of articles relating to Computer Science, Biology, Physics, Mathematics and Statistics.
There is now an iphone application so you can access arxiv content on the move.

It is belongs to and is maintained by Cornell University, and is also partially funded by the American National Science Foundation.
