Its in!!!!!
Well, I'm sitting in Ridgmount street Information Centre right now, having handed in, in triplicate, my finished portfolio!
Its a strange combination of relief and terror.
I'd like to say a MASSIVE thank you to Chris Bradford, my ever helpful and enthusiastic Mentor, and I'd like to wish the best of luck to anyone else submitting.
I'm not sure whether I will continue with this blog or not - but it will certainly sit here for the time being, at least until I know if I've passed!

The plot thickens
Follow-up to Facebook Terms and Conditions from When I grow up I want to be a Librarian!
I have just been sent this by our electronic resources librarian - any comments?
Do you trust facebook?
Should Libraries (or any organisations for that matter) be concerned about what facebook might use their content for at a later date - even after they have deleted their pages?

Facebook Terms and Conditions
Writing about web page http://blog.facebook.com/blog.php?post=54746167130
Very interesting - it seems that facebook is rewriting its terms and conditions in light of users concerns about information sharing.
I have to admit I havent read it all yet - but I will, and may post more comments here.
Any views?

Google book – copyright – access – whats going on??
Writing about web page http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2009/feb/14/google-books-robert-darnton
See Guardian article linked above.
Brilliant quote from it:
"One of my colleagues is a quiet, diminutive lady, who might call up the notion of Marion the Librarian. When she meets people at parties and identifies herself, they sometimes say condescendingly, "A librarian, how nice. Tell me, what is it like to be a librarian?" She replies, "Essentially, it is all about money and power." "
Any comments?

How many pieces of "extraordinary" evidence?
HI All,
I am on the Extraordinary Route to Chartership, which means I have done 2 years of evidence collection instead of 1.
I am now finalising my portfolio and wondering if I need to include twice the evidence of a person not on the "extraordinary" route.
As it stands my portfolio contains 38 pieces of evidence - and I think I can safely justify them all against my PPDP.
Does this sound like a reasonable number considering I have done two years of work?
Any ideas?
Any extraordinary candidates out there who have already passed?
Thanks,
Katharine
