ETHICAL BANKING MOTION TO UNION COUNCIL
Let's invest the Union's Money ethically.
Ethical Banking Policy Website
If all goes well this policy will be discussed at Union Council on Thursday 16th June 2005. The policy resolves that from the 1st November 2006 the Union will place the majority of its funds in accounts with ethical banks.
Ethical Banks
Ethical banks are banks which turn away business from companies or organisations which have a poor record with respect to ethical issues such as human rights, the environment, animal welfare, and the arms trade.
I am the proposer of this policy and Benny Spooner is the Seconder.
Ethical Banking is a long term policy and in order for it to remain Union Policy and for it to be implemented the policy will need people to support it in the long term. I graduate this year, so I am looking for a small group of people who are prepared to promote this policy next year. If you or anyone you know would be willing to spare a few hours every term to ensure that the Union's funds (including Sports Club and Society funds) are ethically invested please email me.
Remember that we are talking about a lot of money here, the Union's Annual turnover is about £5 million (according to Simon Lucas).
WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP
Thanks for your time and consideration, if you are willing to help in any way at all I would be very pleased to hear from you.
Email: john.cross@w… [until the end of term.]
Proposed New disciplinary Regulations
Does anybody see a problem?
2.2The Chair of the Disciplinary Panel will be the Finance and Internal Affairs Officer, unless they deem themselves to have a conflict of interest, in which case they will pass their responsibilities to another Sabbatical Officer with the exception of the President.
To be discussed at Executive Committee on Thursday.
_
I attended the Executive Committee Meeting and this clause was passed.

OK, I am concerned about the University's Leasdership Foundation Project. I think at the very least it deserves close monitoring by students. I have put everything I know about this project on the page of Tim's Site given below. I would be grateful if everyone could contribute what they know to this page so we all have a better idea about what is going on.
We will be discussing issues such as:
…and a lot more. We will be attempting to reach a consensus about the way forward on these issues
Please post here to let me know if you are coming and what you would like to discuss. .

First Exam today on Hyperbolic Geometry starts at 2pm can't say I am looking forward to it. To be honest I feel quite nervous about it.
I have prepared about as well as I could possibly prepare but I don't feel confident. I tried to access my online exam timetable just now but it would not let me in.
Wish me luck.
I have been revising quite hard these past few weeks, seen my girlfriend in Nottingham and been to Lyme Cage.
It has been a boring but reasonably productive Easter holiday. Though I never get as much done as I hope or plan to do.
If you want more interesting entries maybe you shouldn't return to this Blog for a week or so.
