Canada Day!
Writing about web page http://www.travelcanada.ca/travelcanada/app/en/gb/home.do

Well it's Canada Day today and I'm not at a parade or a ceremony or a barbeque or a fair-ground or even have a National holiday today. Boo, hiss. Since I'm a Canadian living abroad, I feel it my duty to cheer on the country and act as tourism ambassador for the day.
As the vacation, sorry "holiday" season is gearing up here in the UK, I advise that everyone book a trip to Canada if you want a fantastic holiday. Normally I'd advocate that visitors go to Nova Scotia (my home province) but since this is Canada Day, I'd better be fair to the rest of the country and point out what else there is to do.
You could, like most international visitors, go to Toronto or to The Rockies and then say you've "seen" Canada, but there are so many other terrific things to do and see in the country.
If you like city/cultural holidays then Montreal and Quebec City are gorgeous cities with lots of French colonial history and quaint old quarters and relaxing cafes. The people in Quebec are also really friendly and unlike the French in France, they actually LOVE it if you just try to speak French and they help you out with the language.
If you like more wildlife or outdoorsy things, then P.E.I, Nova Scotia or Newfoundland are terrific for hiking, canoeing, bicycling, camping (watch out for bears and moose!) and seeing really picturesque fishing villages and coastal scenery.
If you'd like a more wild west feeling, then you can't go wrong with the largest rodeo in the world, the Calgary Stampede in Calgary, Alberta. This is a HUGE festival and although I haven't been yet, it tops my list of holiday things to do when I get home.
Finally, if you like shopping, then visit the West Edmonton Mall in Edmonton, Alberta. It's the world's largest mall with hotels and submarines and rollercoasters. By the way, you get more Canadian dollars than American for your British pound and so if you're going to North America just to shop, then you get more for your money in Canada.
That said, I've listed the official Canadian tourism site here, eh? So go have a look and see what it's all a-boat!

Thanks for the travel guide, and oh, Happy Canada day! Will you have some sort of celebration yourself later?

Thanks! As for our own celebrations, no, I haven't really planned anything at home. If it's still nice, we'll likely have a barbeque though and pretend it's nice and hot out. :-)

Canada has always been appealing as a holiday destination – sigh, one day it will happen.

Why is there a submarine at the mall? I'm confused…

Oh, the submarine is for underwater submarine rides….they have them there…the subarmines are glass bottomed and in a huge aquarium type place
