Procrastination..
Follow-up to My Top Three from 1 in a million, 2 is a crowd, 3 is company, 4's not allowed
As I pretend to revise Stanislavski;s role in the Rise of the Director I listen to:
Alas Agnes - The Mystery Jets
Awesome band from my local area who've suported British Sea Power, Bloc Party and The Futureheads
They also sung to me once
Arcade Fire - No Car's Go
Uplifting track of thier early EP from the best band of this year (bar Maximo Park)
Truely astonishing album (Funeral), and this one ain't half bad neither
The White Stripes - Take Take Take
Described by NME as a bluegrass Stan, this is a song off their new LP about Rita Hayworth from the point of view of a besotted fan. Jack White has excelled himself lyrically and musically on this track, a trend that is the case right through Get Behind Me Satan. Apparently Jack White got married yesterday which seems curious in light of the bitter, lonesome feel to the album....hard to know what to believe though when its being billed as his first marriage

Get Behind Me Satan is getting mixed reviews to say the least – good to hear a positive one

Actually why am I humouring with a comment a post that is clearly a blatant attempt to disguise the fact that your blog is now little more than a Werlygig promotional tool? Cynical, cynical…

Hmmm, if blog comments could kill….
As a huge Stripes fan I feel assured that most people will enjoy GBMS
For a band that big and successful to come out with such a new sound and challenging songs is testament to their talent and their confidence. Some of the songs are the best they've ever recorded (see the aforementioned track, My Doorbell, Blue Orchid, Im Lonely (But I Aint That Lonely Yet) especially) and the wit and sincerity pouring out of every lyric is a joy.
He got married to his girlfriend (forget the name) who you can see in the BO video.
They tied the know on the Amazon River on a boat with their manager as best man and Meg as brides maid
Bit weird, but then that makes 'em all the more fun

The Amazon. That rocks. Though I'd've thought the Mississippi would be more Jack's bag.

Shall
maybe he married Meg and she was only DRESSED as the bridesmaid ;)
I love screaming along to Blue Orchid in my car, preferably in far right lane of the motorway but I'm not too fussy. Can't wait to get the album, your opinion good sir: which is best White Stripes album to date?

My favourit album is De Stijl by a very long way but White Blood Cells is the one that gets me most excited.
Elephant is grand but slightly irritating after multiplemultiple listens
If you ain't heard De Stijl kids you've gotta get it.
It is The White Stripes at their ditty writing, childlike best….songs like Appleblossom and You're Pretty Good Looking are pure simplicity and naive genius.
Truth Doesnt Make A Noise is my favourite Stripes song and the stripped down blues is awesome!
Get Behind Me Satan is a totally different case – more mature and just as inventive.

Shall, I have Elephant, De Stijl and the debut if you wanna borrow. And White Blood Cells on Minidisc (my favourite, incidentally).

The funny thing with Elephant is that I can't remember the last time I felt an inclination to listen to it. It may not have had a complete listen through for over a year. The Stripes were awesome at Reading last year though

Yeh thats true
the tunes are awesome – ball and biscuit, seven nation army, i wanna be the boy
but doesnt feel like a whole coherent, forceful album to me
unlike GBMS
