Empty Orchestra of Rock

Tuesday night started with me getting extremely sweaty from excessive rock at the Colloseum, followed by a trip to the Rocksoc karaoke night at the Dog and Trumpet. I sang three tunes: Enter Sandman (With Em), God Gave Rock and Roll to You (With Rich and Pablo (and attempts at the harmonies :D)) and Hotel California (With Cat). Was immense fun and I was hugely surprised that my voice was pretty much normal when I woke up.

Anywho, here's another crappy paintjob.

Fistification

If anyone out there reads this, feel free to come along to the Colosseum tomorrow night to see Replica X and Snarf Takes up the Challenge on a bill with another 6 local bands. It all starts at 7pm and finishes at 12:30 so shouldn't interrupt revision too much. Also, you get to see me making stupid faces and all for charity.

Jazzify

I know we're very close to many people's exams, but tomorrow (Thursday) night sees one of my bands playing some eclectic mix of jazz/lounge/rock in Rootes Bar. If you come along and introduce yourself, I may play you a guitar solo or throw you a plectrum :-D

We'll have had 3 hours to put the whole thing together, but after our 1 hour practise today, I'm feeling pretty excited about it.

Anyone out there able to sing Hocus Pocus?

Here is a picture of us to tempt you.

Music stuff

Writing about an entry you don't have permission to view

Total Volume of music on my computer
27.9 Gigs. 15 1/2 days, apparently.

The last CD I bought was
Picture by Kino. Bought it when I saw them in the Mean Fiddler a few weeks ago

Song playing right now
Crack the Big Sky – Spock's Beard

Five songs I listen to a lot or that mean a lot to me
1. Dressed to Kill – New Found Glory. I was watching MTV one day and this song came on. I just managed to take all the lyrics and apply them to my relationship with my girlfriend at the time. Don't listen to it any more though.

2. Loser's Day Parade – Kino. There's just something about the way they sing "Dead Nobodies in Company Cars" that really hits me.

3. Heartattack in a Layby – Porcupine Tree. Listened to it after I heard my ex had started going out with another guy and just kept listening to it. It's a really beautiful track that makes my hair stand on end.

4. My New Haircut – Freak Kitchen. Whenever I get depressed by people, this song will usually pick me up.

5. And if that one doesn't, June by Spock's Beard. One of the most beautiful tracks I've ever heard. Can't help but smile.

The Five People I'm passing The Baton On To:
I'm pretty sure everyone has had this passed onto them, so whoever feels like it.

Bunnies

I know it's not very original to link things from Albino Black Sheep. but I've never felt so sorry for an animated bunny.

Why does my blog hate me?

I don't know how many times I've thought about coming on here and spilling out all the things I think about from minute to minute, only to get to some pre-submission stage before thinking better of letting the world see the
kind of stuff I do care about. My backspace button gets a lot of use at these times.

I'm sure I could do a good job at this blogging stuff if only I could silence the attack of pride that hits around the second paragraph of any entry attempt. So here I shall attempt to rekindle my affection for writing that has been blocked by science since GCSE's. Stick around. It might not suck that much.

Grand Design

Well we got a pretty good reception at Battle of the Bands Heat 2, which was quite unexpected. I loved every second though, even with the technical hitches. Glad I've found such a perfect group of musicians and I'm glad they're as into the music as I am.

Pictures from the night can be found here:
