Eclecticity

Fourth Year Project write-ups suck.

What it does mean is i've been sitting in my room listening to various CDs/not-so-CDs for almost 14 hours straight. Not quite my average music playlist (a bit more cheesy pop than normal) but here's a sample:

Pink Floyd — The Wall (brilliant. both CDs)
Aimee Mann — Lost in Space
Norah Jones — Come Away With Me
Robbie Williams — Best of.. (no i don't own it…. and yes i do dislike a lot of it)
Kylie — Ultimate Kylie (yes i do own it… and yes it's all good :P)
Razorlight — Up all Night
Pet Shop Boys — Pop/Art (mostly the Art side)
50 Cent — Get Rich Or Die Tryin' (to wake me up ~4am)
and to finish off..
ABBA ABBA Gold (still haven't brought myself to buy it… really should. maybe over the net, where i won't have to face the shameful moment of physically handing over cash to someone for it.)

Winner Takes It All is a brilliant track!

I think i'm gonna finish off with a little Belle & Sebastian or Camera Obscura to get myself in a sleeping mood. 3pm – 6am is not a healthy living cycle, but i'm worrying wide awake.

Still dark outside at least.

Chinese Water Torture

drip

drip

Loud flatmates and insomnia strike again… and after half an hour of just lying there, I realised, "so that's what blogs are for!"

drip

For about the 8th straight night, i've woken up/been going to bed at some stupid hour of the morning and walked around the flat turning all the bloody taps off. A lot of the time it's lazy people not bothering to twist hard enough to stop the dripping, but some are un-turn-offable. I don't know what the hell people are doing to them, but most of the taps are well and truly fliechened.

drip

One of them (thankfully at the other end of the corridor) is stuck permanently at half-flow, creating a continuous trickling sound. You would have thought someone (like, say, the person who lives across the hall from it!) would get around to complaining about it, but apathy rules.

And before anyone comments ("who?", you may ask — if you existed), yes i know this sounds hypocritical — i'm probably the least likely out of anyone to bother with the trek to Rootes Reception or to, say, pick up the phone and talk to someone — and in fact it IS hypocritical. But i'm just too (a)pathetic to do anything about it.

drip

I guess i just wish someone else with a bit more commitment to the cause would either turn the taps off before i have to, or actually complain.

And now for something completely different.

Came across this in my list of random links. It's pre-US-election and i've only vaguely heard of either Crossfire or Jon Stewart, but man oh man is this funny (in my humble, but still fairly important, opinion.) Gotta love the Bush supporter getting more and more riled up. A friendly face from the country that gave you friendly fire.

…and here's what Jon Stewart had to say on his own show a couple nights later. Good Stuff.

Not enough room to swing a cat

Swinging cats can be fun. The trick is to get a cat just large enough that it just touches the walls of the room. That way, you're still able to claim said room is small and you get a nice claw-pattern motif chucked in for free! Plus the cost of the cat obviously.

Not that I swing cats.

On that note, this isn't exactly swinging, more spinning. Funny video nonetheless.

More fun for all the family!

…and my personal favourite cat-related video on the net.
Could watch that one over and over again. In fact I have.

Fans think they want to see more than the 10 to 20 seconds of Itchy and Scratchy that we put on the show, but my feeling is less is more. Once you've skinned and flayed a cat, ripped his head off, made him drink acid and tied his tongue to the moon, there really isn't that much to say. — Matt Groening

Ahh.. fun times.

By the way, I do actually like cats.

After scolding one's cat one looks into its face and is seized by the ugly suspicion that it understood every word. And has filed it for reference.

I want one!

Ta–daaa!!!

And so it begins.

Just so you know from the off:

I HATE BLOGS.

If i quit this within a week, you'll know why. If not, then my fickle mind will probably just have done what it normally does. Maybe I should change that to 'I currently hate blogs'.

So.. if I don't like them, why am i starting a blog at 5a.m. on the last day of lectures i'll ever have? Partly because I was talked into it, mostly by myself but i'll give some credit to a mate of mine — I believe he at least typed the words "you should start one" at some point — but probably the main reason is that I have a f+ck-off massive project due in two weeks and realised i needed something to distract me further from doing it. Now that the daily routine of pretending i might go to a lecture is out the window, that is.

Oh and every now and again I do actually feel I could write something down, but hopefully I won't start on the self-loathing (or someone-else-loathing) monologues anytime soon. Hopefully.

Before I forget, do excuse the randomness or offensiveness of any quotes i might use — if you know me you'll know i never mean to offend (except those times that i do) and i have a slightly twisted sense of humour that i blame on living with a bunch of freaks for the last 3 years.

Can't think of anything particularly profound to say, so:

I'm a little teapot short and stout;
Here is my handle, here is my…other handle?
Sh!t, I'm a sugar bowl!!

Indeed.
