- It turns itself off at random intervals (It's either the processor or the RAM or the power supply… I think)
- Sometimes only one speaker works and I have to prod the headphone socket to make it work again
- It's over a year old!
Might get a Mac Mini – it's unix-based but well supported (not to mention super cool looking!) so it could be the best of both worlds. Any Mac users want to comment? Only problem with that is I'd then have to use a USB caddy for my 180gb drive and I'm not sure if I could cope with the constant noise!
Other options are:
- Wait until my current PC dies completely
- Try to fix the problems myself
- Pay someone to fix the problems
- Get a new PC
- Just use my laptop for everything
(My PC is primarily used for playing & storing videos & music as it is high spec – my laptop is used for work and is good but not great spec) |

Depends what you want it for, but the Mac mini is not a terribly fast box. I've got a G4 powerbook (similar spec) and, whilst it's fine for browsing / email / writing docs etc, it's a bit sluggish for coding on.
If I were looking for a new PC I'd be more tempted by one of the new G5 iMacs – looks at least as cool as a mini, nice and quick, and yours for about a grand or so.

I can't really justify a grand for a second computer though, although faster would be good for multimedia use.
