Smail Web Interface

Ok, so I've been having some problems with accessing Smail recently; the redirect page (the page that just says "Enter") takes a very long time to redirect me to my inbox — in the range of 1 minute or so.

I emailed the ITS helpdesk regarding this issue, and after 5 or 6 emails, they were not able to track down the cause of the problem at their end, and suggested it was a problem with my connection.

I'm not entirely convinced, but was satisfied enough to not press the matter further — it could be a connection problem, after all. I am interested to know, however, if other people are suffering the same problem.

Project

So.

I have my project presentation on Friday. The slides are written. The presentation is not exactly practised. The demo… could be interesting.

Am generally not fussed about the presentation, as I have a good spec/progress report, and the Final Report should be good too. The presentation is also 15% of the project, and I know the subject area well enough to blag it. I hope. But I am worried about the demo; the project is not quite fully working and is now incredibly time-consuming and difficult to debug – I need at least two PCs to do so. Hence the procrastination of blogging.

Here's hoping…

Still not panicking…

Follow-up to Panic? Moi? from SOAPBox v2.0

It's now 1.40am on Thursday 5 Jan (but I guess you gathered that from the timestamp at the bottom of the post). I'm 3722 words down, but the word limit was never going to be the problem.

One of the ratios I've chosen is only really meaningful if compared with direct competitors, and there are not the relevant figures available for the three competitors listed to allow me to do this.

Ho-hum, let's hope I can get some credit for investigating it at least.
