Telegraph – It Pays To Think Big Campaign
Writing about web page http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/mediatechnologyandtelecoms/5276776/Daily-Telegraph-launches-It-Pays-To-Think-Big-advertising-campaign.html
This billboard has been at Bromley South station for sometime now:

I think this is excellent, probably one of my favourite billboards. Very simple. But, what initially caused me to research it, was the fact that I didn't recognise who Andy Warhol was - he predates my cultural knowledge.
In fact, I saw Phil Spectre on TV just now and searched Google Images to check I wasn't getting people mixed up.
The execution of this is excellent - it does invite curiousity. I also think, it's a lot better than the Times' attempt to portray itself as a historic leader of papers through the years. However, one of the adverts the Times has, is of an image of a clock about to strike the twelvth hour above a contemplative Gordon Brown's head - very impressive, time really is running out for the Government.
But what is the message - or beyond the core message? Three white prominent men, who thought big and are/were successful? I think it's a great point - they all had humble beginnings, reflective of the paper industry. Yet, as a colleague suggested, and I totally agree - what about successful women? Did these people grow up being defined, simply by what their parents did and how they encouraged their kids? Presumably Bill Gates would be a step too far in the wrong direction.
Nobody can disagree with the obvious core message.
It makes great business sense - good judgment has been made over this and much like the exposure over MPs expenses - is spot on.
